The Beginning
Final Fantasy X pivots around Tidus, a famous Blitzball player from the
land of Zanarkand. Jecht, Tidus' father who was also a famous Blitzball player,
disappeared more than ten years ago when Tidus was a young boy. Now 17, Tidus is
very happy with being one of Blitzball's greatest stars -- until "Sin" appears.
When this massive squid-like creature crashes Tidus' Blitzball tournament, Auron, a
character who knew Tidus' father very well, appears practically out of nowhere. Auron
gives Tidus a sword that was once Jecht's and the duo begin to battle some of Sin's
minions. While the two battle Sin's drones, a blinding vortex appears from the sky.
The ground crumbles, and all is seemingly sucked inside the vortex. Auron lifts Tidus
off his feet and utters, "Get ready. It's all about you. This is your story."
Other characters include Kimahri, a huge beast man with a broken horn, is said to
be Yuna's guardian protector and mentor. Seymour, a part semi-god?, part human of the
Guado village. Not a main character, you see Yuna marrying this guy at PlayOnline's FFX
opening movie. Lulu, a sexy Blage Mage, uses a moogle doll as a weapon (think voodoo).
Auron, a sword wielder, and a friend of Tidus' father. Wakka, who plays
'Blitzball', an underwater sport, together with Tidus. Another confirmed
character is Rikku, daughter to the FF tradition - Cid, of the Alvedo tribe. She crosses path with
Tidus as a member of a band of thieves called the Al Bhed. Together, these group travel the world of
Spira to find out what is causing the recent destructions and to discover the secrets of the summons.
Like all FFs, there are mini-games included in FFX. One of which mentioned is Blitzball, a cross
between rugby and basketball, underwater sport. Another mini-game is where Tidus must
hunt for clues that will allow the player to master the language of the Al Bhed. There is also the
another mini-game, training of Chocobos, similar to FF8, which you need to complete a certain obstacle course.
Sin
Sin/Shin, is the ultimate evil in Final Fantasy X. Sin is a force of nature, like a
tornado, earthquake or flood. Shin is thought to waken every 1000 years, and can only be
defeated by the summoner’s ultimate summon, for which every summoner strives. Sin is best
described, according to Nojima, as “an existence that agonizes the world. An existence
that is present in daily life, and repeats destruction. In some means, a subject of fear.”
However, Sin is not just some force out to destroy the planet. It can be a good thing as
well. Yuna is able to summon Shin in the form of everyone's favorite summons, such as
Ifrit, Shiva, etc, after you defeat them. Also, you can pull off a Shin Overdrive attack
with an animation sequence that rivals the Summons.
